Regular maintenance will not only prevent your car from breaking down; but it will make your automobile safer and protect your vehicle's value!
Even though these tips are very obvious, you will be surprised how many vehicle owners forget these simple maintenance items:
Tires: Check your tire pressure regularly. Use snow tires for additional support in those dark months of winter. Make sure that your tires are well aligned, and rotate the tires for more even wear.
Tires (2): Make sure that you always have a spare tire, and that it is in a condition to actually serve you in times of need.
Wipers: Consider replacing your blades every 6 to 12 months. A clear view will prevent accidents.
Lights: It is not just important that your lights work; also pay attention to the angle of the lights. Lights aimed too high may blind approaching cars, causing accidents.
Fluids: Check your fluids regularly. Changing fluids will expand your car's life expectancy. Think about engine oil, antifreeze, transmission fluid, and brake fluid.
Brakes: Make sure that your breaks don't let you down when you need them most! Have the break pads, drums, rotors and other elements checked periodically. A good inspection requires the removal of all four wheels, so a tire rotation or oil change is a good time to plan for break maintenance.
Tune up: Cars are expensive. But they get to be even more expensive if you don't treat them right. Have a regular tune up done, replacing spark plugs, checking filters, belts and hoses.
